Composer, Arranger • Jazz violinist • Co-producer
Christoph König has devoted his musical work to exploring the boundaries between classical music, jazz, pop, and world music. He studied classical violin and jazz violin under the renowned violinist Didier Lockwood. In addition to his successful career as a violinist and violist, his main focus as an arranger and composer is to transform music without stylistic boundaries into a unique orchestral language. He is a founding member of the acclaimed ensemble Uwaga!, which has been pioneering in this field for over 15 years. Since 2017, he has also been involved with Arco Sinfónica (formerly Latin-Jazz Sinfónica) from the very beginning as an arranger. König has arranged and composed for renowned artists, ensembles, and orchestras, including: WDR Funkhausorchester, Arco Sinfónica (57-piece orchestra/big band hybrid formation), Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, Salzburg Philharmonic, Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, Bodo Wartke, The Klazz Brothers, Spark – the classical band, and many more. Regular work as a violinist and composer for theatre productions is another pillar of his career, most recently contributing to one of the final works of the late directing legend Robert Wilson at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus in 2025.
As a violinist, he has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Great Hall of the Elbphilharmonie, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and Philharmonie St. Petersburg, and is a frequent guest at renowned classical festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival. He has toured the USA with the multiple-Grammy-winning Turtle Island Quartet and regularly performs as a soloist with Uwaga! alongside leading orchestras throughout Germany.
