German Klaiber is the man behind the charming, expressive groove, and is in demand internationally. Born in 1967 in Baden-Württemberg, his first musical love was the violin. He has remained faithful to string instruments, only the instrument changed to the bass. Klaiber studied at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern, the University of Music Stuttgart, and at Western Illinois University in the USA. From 1997 to 2002, he was a student of John Clayton. Today, he teaches himself, as a lecturer at the Trossingen University of Music, as a professor for ensemble performance at the University of Arts, Design and Popular Music in Freiburg, and as a leader of renowned jazz workshops. When he’s not sharing his knowledge, Klaiber performs live or in the studio with artists such as Herb Ellis, Franco Ambrosetti, the Zipflo Reinhardt Band, the Norbert Gottschalk Quartet, Sorry It’s Jazz, or tours with the Patrick Tompert Trio, while also working as a freelance musician.
