Julia H. M. Diederich

Born in the region of Swabia in 1971, Julia Diederich began her journey into music on the violin and piano at the age of five. After attending a music-focused high school with an emphasis on piano and visual arts, she completed a banking apprenticeship, followed by studies at the Latin Percussion School in Munich and the Pentaton Percussion School in Wuppertal, from which she graduated in 1994. From 1994–1995, she prepared at the Swiss Jazz School in Zurich for her World Music degree at the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music. She completed her studies in 2000 at the International Music College Freiburg, specialising in Pedagogy in Instrumental Instruction, earning her diploma as a performing musician and state-certified instrumental teacher. Diederich is also a certified European event manager (IHK) and, following further training, has passed IHK exams in business IT and print media technology. In 2017, she founded the 66-member orchestra and in 2018 took over the management of a publishing company (GmbH). As a live and studio musician, she has toured across Europe and Cuba in various ensembles. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Burghausen Jazz Week, Latin-Jazz Sinfónica performed with Grammy-winning pianist Ramon Valle, Omar Rodriguez Calvo (bass), and Jamie Peet (drums). Since May 2020, she has been a member of the German Composers’ Association.
