Marc Roos

Tenor trombone

The trombonist Marc Roos was born in 1988 in Ostfildern (Greater Stuttgart area). At the age of 6, he found his way to music through his father. He first received lessons on the tenor horn and later, at the age of 10, on the trombone. During this time, he mostly played in local brass bands. At the age of 12, he became interested in jazz and gained his first big band experience with his father's amateur big band. He took lessons from local professional musicians and began to explore jazz improvisation. Playing in various big bands in the surrounding area soon expanded into a broader musical activity. After graduating from high school, the trombonist initially took a small detour with regard to music, completing a dual degree program in mechatronics and earning a bachelor’s degree. After working for nearly a year as an engineer, he ultimately decided to follow his true passion and devote himself entirely to music. In 2012, he began his studies at the University of Music in Basel, Jazz Department, under Professor Adrian Mears, successfully completing his Bachelor’s degree in June 2015. He is currently continuing his education in Basel in the Master’s program, studying with Nils Wogram.
